Bear Love
In November of 2024, I came across a Bear sleeping in the woods. The woods are in Tahoe Vista, CA, and are my childhood stomping grounds. Why it took 58 years for this encounter to happen is a question that keeps popping up for me. Regardless, I am sure glad I had the honor of running into a new friend, the Black Bear.
And then……..
A couple of weeks later we discovered that a Bear had been hit by a car down on the highway that runs around the lake. Sadly, it seems to be the same bear that I met a couple of weeks before. He is still alive, but badly injured. He has trauma to his head, and he has most likely lost sight in one eye. He is getting around on his own, and he is being monitored by veterinarians to some extent.
Sending Good Juju
Shelter for this Bear is critical. A nice cozy place where he can sleep, recharge, and heal. If he can find a good shelter and remain undisturbed, we should see him again in the spring.
So, I have been praying and holding space for my Bear friend as I paint him. Painting is a way for me to clear my head and really connect myself spiritually. At times, the act of painting is alike a key that unlocks a spiritual door for me.
Here’s a peek at my painting.
To Be Continued….
I will keep you posted on the path and the progress of our Bear friend. If you can think of him from time to time over this winter season, I would surly appreciate it and I have a feeling he would too.
From my den to yours, many blessings.
