Since Kauai is one of the oldest Hawaiian Islands, the high iron content of the volcanic soils has had plenty of time to oxidize, especially with the wet conditions of the island. If you have visited the island, you have probably seen “Red Dirt Shirts” being sold in most stores. Instead of dying t-shirts, I went to the island prepared with some sheets of heavy duty water color paper. It was fun to play around with. I want to share how this little project turned out. Enjoy!
